We had Sunday brunch with Nate and Kristen. Delicious! Mimosas, egg and sausage skillet, most amazing buttermilk biscuits, and homemade doughnuts with fresh cream and peaches! What a great couple... we really enjoyed meeting them! They are excellent hosts and great conversationalists. We even had a brief visit from Princess Filomena :)
What a fun and delicious meal share! Melody was such a welcoming host, and the dinner she made was absolutely delicious. I honestly couldn't stop eating the rice even after I was full :) Thanks for everything, Melody!
Naila hosts at her home in Keller with her husband. She is excited to share all about her heritage, cuisine and food traditions. Start your experience with a cooking class followed by a meal you helped prepare. Join Naila in her kitchen for a 1-2 hours hands-on cooking class to learn some of her favorite dishes, that have resulted by combining flavors from Bangladesh, where she grew up, and Texas, the place she now calls home. You will learn to make Bengali-style quesadillas - beef or chicken keema (minced meat cooked with Bengali spices) sandwiched between two tortillas with cheese and grilled to a crispy perfection and her signature dum aloo, using whole new potatoes from the nearby supermarket. Or she can also teach you to make a typical Bengali meal of chicken seekh kebab or chicken curry and lentil and rice biryani. After your cooking class, join Naila at the dining table to share the meal you helped prepare, which will be served with salad and jardah, a sweet and buttery vermicelli dessert.
Young was a very gracious host and very knowledgeable with Thai food and customs. If you want a good meal and a good time this is for you.
Cooking with Eric was a unique experience. It was a one of kind evening with good food and a lot of laughter.
Shuo was so friendly and patient with us. We loved making the dumplings and appreciated all of the explanation that he provided for each step. He let us know how we could adjust them in the future and other uses for the dough. It was a really fun couple of hours!
Etienne has great international insight from his days in France and simply knows what good food is! Never a dull conversation have I had with him. It's impossible to not enjoy his presence.
This was our favorite meal of the weekend, and a perfect late Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law. 10/10 would recommend! It was such a fun time! Courtland and Allie were so welcoming, and the meal was divine. Courtland served up a backyard summer salad, shrimp boulettes with a remoulade dipping sauce, crawfish bisque with stuffed crawfish heads over rice, and a French bread custard with ice cream. Going out to eat in New Orleans is one thing, but helping out in the kitchen of a born Cajun chef is a whole different experience. Plus, it gave us a nice break from the hustle and bustle of eating out in the city.
Cooking this spicy pork sausage dinner is a special tradition in BA’s family. And she is so excited to share with travelers how to make this homemade pork sausage. BA’s dad, Ray, learned to cook this dish from his parents and then passed on this family tradition to his family. Join BA on this unique and fun experience and learn to make sausages using her family recipe. Everyone will participate in the grinding, mixing, spicing, tasting and stuffing the sausages! After you make the sausages, sit down at the dining table to enjoy a meal of roasted potatoes, salad, sausage, and dessert.
Join BA in her welcoming Long Beach home for a hands-on, small-group cooking class focused on fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced as much as possible from local farms and gardens. Over the course of two hours, you’ll learn to prepare a delicious, well-rounded meal—starting with a flavorful dip, followed by a main course, salad, homemade bread, and a sweet dessert. After cooking, sit down with BA—and her sons, if they’re home—to enjoy the meal you’ve created together. It’s a warm, communal experience that celebrates good food and great company.
Interaction with BA and her family was fun. We felt like we were at a friends house for lunch. We grilled everything we ate so it was nice to be outside on a beautiful day.
We had an awesome time! Highly recommend. Ruby made a custom menu to adapt to my family's food allergies. It was delicious and dishes we will add to our family recipes. We felt so at ease and welcome in her home. The conversation never stopped and we learned so much! I am hoping to book with her again. This was a gift to my daughters boyfriend for his birthday. We have decided togrther on gifts of time. This was a hit!
Nancy and Hailey welcome you into their Chicago apartment with a big smile and warm heart, starting your culinary adventure with an appetizer of cheeses, meats, crackers, and nuts. After getting to know each other, head to the open-plan kitchen to make delicious Chicago-style deep dish pizzas or handmade pasta from scratch (like fettuccine alfredo with a compound milk sauce!). Learn how to make the sauce, combine toppings, and construct your pies. Note that the dough will be pre-prepared since it needs time to rise. Once the pizzas are in the oven (or the pasta dough is resting), Nancy will guide you in creating a fresh salad with homemade dressing and a dessert. The 1.5-hour class ends with enjoying your meal over wine or beer at the dining table. If no preference is stated, Nancy defaults to pasta. You'll also receive printed recipes to recreate your dishes at home.
Samm and Erika were awesome hosts! They whipped up a super tasty and #fresh meal, paired with delish vino, served up in a sweet Hyde Park coach house. A 100% great experience!
Join Marla and Max in their modern, artistic home to share a vegan meal. You will also meet Becca Sue (a rescue from Natchez, Mississippi), their beautiful dog who loves humans! Marla is a passionate home cook who specializes in vegan world cuisine. She loves cooking plant based meals and is so happy to share it with like minded travelers. In 2022, Marla and Max took a road trip across the US, so you can expect to try a few dishes inspired from their travels. Marla loves to cook with ingredients that are fresh and in season. So your menu will vary depending on the season, but a few dishes you can expect to try are pesto pizza (typical toppings include spinach, potatoes and mushrooms), salad or homemade cornbread, mushroom stroganoff and chili sin carne or glazed tofu. End your meal with some homemade ice cream, berries and dark chocolate. If you're looking for a wholesome vegan meal in Boston, Marla's homemade vegan meal will not disappoint!
Fantastic experience, wonderful hosts! We came across this fantastic activity whilst searching for something a bit different to the ordinary touristy excursions, via British Airways experiences. Don and Nancy were wonderful hosts and made us feel welcome and relaxed. Nancy had contacted us via The Travelling Spoon beforehand to ask if we would prefer a breakfast type snack rather than the charcuterie, as our experience started at 10.30am, which was great, so our day started with coffee, delicious homemade granola bites with fresh fruit and yoghurt and getting to know our hosts. The pizza making itself was excellent, picking up key culinary tips, constructing the pizza, personalising the tomato sauce and the extra ingredients (we went for spinach and sausage) whilst getting to chat about Chicago and travel! We were really pleased with how our pizzas turned out and tasted. After eating pizza with a Chicago skyline view, the experience ended with a delicious homemade lemon curd pie and liqueur. Getting to take home the recipes too was brilliant, so we can now attempt to re-make the pizza, salad and granola. A really enjoyable and unique foodie experience in the heart of Chicago and something that we highly recommend!! Thank you Don and Nancy for such a wonderful day and for teaching us how to make proper pizza!
Amar's dinner party was AWESOME!! The dishes were well executed. Amar is definitely a pro! He uses the local and seasonal ingredients and is very creative in terms of using spices. I'm very impressed. I highly recommend going to Amar and Carolin's mealshare if you get a chance!
Ninoska's home is located about 25 minutes from downtown Savannah, GA - guests will need their own car or an Uber for transportation. Ninoska provided clear directions for getting into the complex. There was ample parking, allowing guests to easily find a spot right in front of Ninoska's home. Ninoska’s home, a third-floor walk-up, is a cozy loft-style apartment brimming with life and character. Upon entering, you are greeted by Ninoska’s bright smile and her small dog Tony wagging his tail. The kitchen, though small, is impeccably clean. Due to its size, the number of people in the kitchen at any given time should be limited. Before the experience, Ninoska asked me to take a short quiz about how my body and mind were feeling to tailor a menu based on the nutrients I needed. This personalized approach made the experience even more exciting. While she was cooking, Ninoska explained why she chose certain meals and how I could incorporate them into my daily life. The menu created for me was a pineapple spice mocktail, a berry and goat cheese crostini, a creamy garlic and potato coconut soup, walnut and black bean tacos with quinoa. Ninoska also prepared a mocha pudding for dessert. Ninoska spaced out each course of the meal, allowing her to explain how each dish benefited my body and to engage in deeper conversation. Her knowledge, passion for cooking and warmth made me feel incredibly connected to her. Each dish was made with the freshest ingredients, and there wasn't a single item on the menu that I disliked. I left feeling completely fulfilled. Ninoska is a perfect host in my eyes.
Kylie was very knowledgeable about all the spices she uses and really cared about cooking. We had great conversations about what we do and I actually learned a lot about cooking and the neighborhood. It was really an awesome experience and I would love to do it again. The home was fairly clean. The food was amazing, all the ingredients were really fresh and the taste was very unique compared to any other places I ate, you can really smell all the freshly ground spices.
Tony's place is the place to be. Great food and great company all around. In true fashion, the Soul Food meal event was a family affair with mom, sister, and the wife contributing to the feast. Tony is one of the most personable person you will ever meet whether it be at his place or anywhere else. A must attend!
I have had plenty of Lowcountry Boils, but nothing compared to the one at my host Clay's home! Walking into his beautiful Wilmington Island home, surrounded by marshland, I was met with Clay’s infectious energy and welcoming spirit. His passion for cooking was evident as we had a Low-country Boil filled with the juiciest potatoes and the biggest shrimp I have ever seen, all accompanied by freshly made butter and zesty cocktail sauce. However, the collard greens stole the show, as they were perfectly salty and spicy - the best I’ve had in the South. What made this dining experience truly unforgettable was not only the delectable food, but also the camaraderie we shared with Clay and his friend as we dug into the feast. Clay’s culinary skills and warm, inviting nature make this a dining experience everyone should experience.

Meet your host Autumn at her small and simple apartment in Seattle. Autumn shares her apartment with her partner Shane and two cats. Enjoy a refreshing seasonal drink before rolling up your sleeves and joining her in her small kitchen to create a fresh and seasonal Pacific Northwest meal. Autumn's cooking is inspired by different cultures from around the world that have made their way to Seattle. As much as possible, Autumn uses fresh, local produce that she purchases from farmer’s markets and herbs from her garden. During your 1.5 hour hands-on Seattle cooking class, learn to sear fish or roast chicken, create a delicious salad with a lively dressing and learn techniques involved in making a sauce that accompanies your main dish. After cooking, enjoy the meal you helped prepare with Autumn at her dining table (or outdoors on her patio, weather permitting) over lively conversation and wine. Your meal concludes with a homemade dessert.
Begin with an "aperitif of the day" and some nibbles before joining Karen in the kitchen for your cooking demonstration. You'll discuss techniques used to prepare your meal, and learn about Maryland seafood, poultry and produce. Help Karen make a starter and main course before sitting down to enjoy the East Coast meal you cooked together. This is a cooking demonstration and not a hands-on cooking class. Since Karen is a registered dietitian (and member of Les Dames d'Escoffier), feel free to ask her questions about nutrition or food. Your meal includes a paired beverage (wine, beer or other) and concludes with a dessert accompanied by limoncello, herbal tea or coffee. Enjoy your meal with Karen and Doug at their dining table. Leave with a full stomach, a new local friend, and memories that last a lifetime.
Join Karen in her open kitchen for a hands-on baking class with light lunch/supper. During the class you'll work with both rich and lean doughs. From a plain rich dough, you'll create stuffed sandwiches, perfect for hearty lunches or family suppers. From a sweetened and spiced rich dough, you'll create scrumptious cinnamon rolls. While you're waiting for the "rich" doughs to rise and bake, you'll make a quick lean dough, perfect for a baguette or a thin crust pizza! Make one or the other and enjoy a light meal of either baguette and butter with soup or a margarita pizza. At the end of the class, take home "ready to eat" or "ready to bake" stuffed sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. Tea, coffee or sparkling water is provided. Participants are welcome to bring sodas, juice or other beverages of their choice.
Meet the locals and enjoy a great conversation, yes you get great food too :) It was a first for all of us. A little nervous and a lot if excitement to meet locals. Cindee and Michael were a joy to be with. We learned a lot about the area and Alaskan traditions. The fresh caught fish by Michael was fantastic. My favorite was the fried bread with a local berry jelly. I would highly recommend immersing here :)
Immerse yourself in a private, 2-hour hands-on baking class where you’ll learn to master two delicious breads: sourdough and pretzels. Start by exploring the stages of bread-making, from mixing, stretching, and shaping to Dutch oven baking. While your sourdough bakes to perfection, you’ll dive into the art of pretzel-making, folding dough into classic salty and cinnamon-sugar twists.

Enjoy your freshly baked sourdough paired with sweet and savory compound butters and toppings like burrata with arugula or jalapeño cheddar. You’ll leave with a mason jar of sourdough starter, recipes, and care instructions to continue your bread-baking journey at home.

Relax and savor a couple of glasses of wine as you bake, learn, and enjoy this fun, interactive experience!
Lenka was kind and made the evening special for a couple who were celebrating their 50th anniversary. I would highly recommend her classes.
We enjoyed the vegan lunch we helped Chef Cas prepare for us. From the welcome drink (turmeric tea) and small bites to the 5-course meal which included a refreshing mango dessert and the local cherry red wine - everything was yummy! Gigi M
I've actually tried to make dosas several times before from recipes in books or on the internet, but Kavitha's class was the first time I got them to work; I'm really grateful. The spicy potato filling and accompanying chutney were also great, a really excellent brunch.
A once in a lifetime experience. Our private Orlando Italian Cooking Class with David was a very nice experience, we all enjoyed the cooking and had a great time. Our hosts were very hospitable and welcoming and we felt at home with them. The food was absolutely excellent! Truly, an experience that hopefully wont be the last. Will definitely do it again next time!
Not only was it educational, learning a lot of little tricks along the way, it was fun and relaxed. It genuinely felt like I was cooking in the same room with my friends, which given the current state of the world, was an added bonus.
George was an amazing host and the food was outstanding. We have been to Greece many times and have eaten in their restaurants, George has outdone our highest expectation when it comes to authentic Greek cuisine. We would highly recommend experiencing a night with George and the travelling spoons for exceptional cuisine, atmosphere and hospitality.

What a great evening with Stephen and his wife Jen! I decided to treat my husband to a fun experience for his birthday and this was such a memorable one. When we arrived there were delicious snacks waiting and Stephen made us a lovely cocktail while sharing his experience and background. Then we learned how to make these amazing lobster quesadillas. While those cooked, we worked on making our own tamales stuffed with a delicious mushroom filling. All the while, Jen his wife, is creating mocktails and sharing conversation in their gorgeous spacious kitchen. Once the tamales and rice were ready, the four of us sat down and enjoyed a fresh, flavorful feast! Finally we finished with a really lovely warm brownie sprinkled in cinnamon, sugar and tajine, and a scoop of vanilla. It was truly a lovely experience and I would highly recommend it. Also, recommend that Stephen consider a BRUNCH cooking class! I would imagine he’d concoct something absolutely delicious- his experience was long and his knowledge was so deep. Loved it!
Meet your hosts at their home in Dana Point, a beautiful residence located minutes from Laguna Beach and the Ritz Carlton and Waldorf Astoria hotels. Begin with your welcome cocktail and appetizer while you discuss the menu and recipes. Join Ann in her spacious kitchen to learn to cook a French Californian meal from scratch. During your hands-on cooking class, Ann will teach you to make four dishes from scratch. You will apply French cooking techniques to local Californian produce. Learn a great technique to make the creamiest mashed potatoes, braise fresh green beans and make delicious chicken with morels (a favorite Parisian recipe). For dessert, prepare choux pastry for cream puffs (much easier to prepare than you might think!). After cooking, sit down and enjoy the delicious meal you helped prepare accompanied with French red or white wine.
THAT. WAS. INCREDIBLE! Jacqueline is the best, and I was there for almost 4 hours talking and cooking and meeting a truly special woman. My Traveling Spoon experience enjoying a Middle East feast with Jackie and her family was truly a magical experience. This is a woman who is living with all her stars out- full of adventure and interest in other people and experiences. She has lived everywhere from Amman to Bethlehem to Philadelphia and now LA, and we got to talk about much of her story as I watched her put the finishing touches on a beautiful array of Jordanian and Lebanese dishes. She also told me the stories of some of the dishes themselves, and was continually making connections between the ingredients she was adding to her homemade Baba Ghannouj or Musakhan (a Palestinian chicken dish with sumac and stewed onions) and the history of the countries she has called home. As Jackie dropped bay leaves into a pot, she told me how the bay leaf is a traditional symbol of peace. As I dipped a piece of bread first in a dish of honey-colored olive oil and then rolled it in za'atar, she taught me that because this dish is thought to be "brain food," Jordanian students eat it before exams in hopes it will give them an extra boost. Jackie is also just fun- greeting me with a glass of Arak, donning a belly-dancing skirt instead of an apron, and inviting me to join in the dance as we cooked. Once at the table, we were joined by her husband George and brother Jad, who were just as lively conversation partners as Jackie. Together we dove into a feast of Hummus, Fatoush, herbed Labneh with preserved lemon, and Baba Ghannouj for mezze. The main course was Musakhan with yogurt cucumber salad. As we ate, we talked about life and language, philosophy and career, family and travel, and by the time it was time for tea and Kunafah (a cheese pastry sprinkled with pistachios and drizzled with orange blossom syrup) in the garden, we had become fast friends. Another delightful component of the experience was George's garden, from which much of the produce for the meal was grown. It is a small, suburban garden, but with Jackie the seed procurer (she brought back seeds for most of the plants from the Middle East) and George the master gardener, it is wonderfully diverse. Figs, grapes, cucumbers, zucchini, lemons, and kumquats are just some of its offerings. George, who is perhaps less gregarious than Jackie but just as friendly, is a passionate gardener and showed me his plants with the same pride that he later showed me pictures of his grandsons. Jackie, before I had seen the full scope of her culinary skills, plucked a grape leaf from the vine and showed me how to roll fresh dolmas. By the end of dessert, I felt like a fully-welcomed new member of the family. I also felt full. Like, really really full. Full of life and gratitude for these kind of experiences and...well...I cannot emphasize enough...full of delicious food.
Nenu is nice and friendly. She is very into cooking and good food. The home is gorgeous and immaculate and sits on a hill above a lake. The garden and how she uses it in her cooking was probably one of my favorite parts. Nenu used uncommon items like curry leaves and Indian basil from her garden along with access to numerous herbs, fruits and plants. She introduced us to fragrant and unique spices like onion seeds. We talked a lot about different Indian regions and how that influenced the flavors and food. Nenu markets herself as possibly Indian fusion and the first dish – an Indian pork taco was fantastic. The pork was juicy and flavored well with Indian spices and topped with pickled onions and cilantro. This was wrapped by dosa. The second dish was herbed Tilapia with basmati rice and Indian potatoes and was very flavorful. Dessert, vanilla ice cream with saffron and cardamom was delicious. We finished with some good chai. Overall a very good experience.
Unique experience you can’t get anywhere else! Our meal was so beautifully presented and tasted equally good! I learned several new cooking tips that I’ll use forever! Chef Brittney was warm and welcoming in her home! A must if you’re visiting Seattle and want a special experience just for you!
