Meet Samm

Samm lives in Chicago with his wife Erica and they are the ultimate Chicago foodies. Samm grew up in a Greek family and Gloria grew up in Mexico. Samm has a passion for food and traveling; he studied cooking in Oaxaca, Mexico and now owns and operates a taco cart at his local farmer's market. Avid hosts who love having people in their home to share good cooking, they love cooking international cuisine but have a special love for Mexican and Oaxacan food. Join Samm and Erica for a wonderful evening filled with delicious food and engaging conversation about current events, philosophy, books, music, and of course cuisine.

What to expect

In-home meal (1 - 5 guests) Join Samm and his wife Erica for an Oaxacan street food experience in their lovely home in Chicago. The menu will feature an Oaxacan favorite called Tlayuda which is a large crispy tortilla covered with black bean puree, sliced tomatoes, chopped greens, avocados, shredded chipotle spiced chicken, and Oaxacan cheese. The meal will also include chorizo quesadillas topped with queso fresco and street-style corn. End your meal with a fresh pot of French press coffee and sweet dessert.

Cooking experience (1 - 5 guests) Join your host Samm and his wife Erica at their home kitchen to learn to cook Oaxacan street food. Your Oaxacan street food cooking class will last about one hour during which you will learn to make 3 dishes. You will learn to cook such dishes such as tlayuda, chorizo quesadilla, and Oaxaca street style corn. Enjoy learning about the history of Oaxaca while preparing your meal and learning about the techniques that make Oaxacan cooking so special. After cooking, sit down at the table to share the meal you helped prepare.
