What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal (1 - 7 guests) Join your host Melody at her apartment in Logan Square for an African-inspired meal. Start with a welcome drink and small snack of fried plantains - a specialty Melody loves and makes for every experience! Then enjoy a main dish of peri-peri chicken - finger-licking, baked chicken marinated overnight in fresh peri-peri peppers (bird's eye chili), red onions, garlic, paprika, oregano, ginger & lime zest. Your delicious peri-peri chicken will be served with jollof rice, a popular west African rice dish cooked in a savory tomato stew and infused with fresh mint, as well as African salad.

Sample menu

This is just a sample menu to give you an idea of the types of dishes the host cooks. Your menu will vary according to seasonal availability.

  • Peri-peri chicken: Finger-licking, baked chicken marinated overnight in fresh peri-peri peppers (bird's eye chili), red onions, garlic, paprika, oregano, ginger & lime zest
  • Fried plantains: Sweet plantains fried until golden brown. (I have them at every meal)
  • African salad: A unique salad that will go great with the rice & chicken. This salad is a combination of lettuce & cabbage, grated carrots, baked beans, eggs, tomatoes, cucumbers, sweet corn and what we call 'salad cream'
  • Jollof rice: Popular west African rice dish of long grain rice mixed and cooked in a savory tomato stew and infused with fresh mint
