Meet BA

BA is a public health professional, whose career is focused on translating health information into messages that people can understand, to help them make healthier choices. Her cooking is also about creating healthier choices that are delicious and unique. BA is a passionate home cook and baker, who loves trying new and healthy recipes. She is well travelled and has lived in a few cities, so she loves mixing international flavors with local, seasonal produce. Also, accommodating dietary needs is her specialty! As she is lactose-free, her son is vegetarian, and many of her friends are gluten free. So, over the years, she has perfected many of her own, unique recipes to satisfy so many deferent palates. Apart from cooking and feeding friends and family, BA is an avid cyclist and loves to be active, doing just about anything she can do outside in any season.

When we asked BA why she would like to be a host, this is what she had to say – “I believe you put your love in the food to bring joy to all you share it with.”

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal (1 - 6 guests) BA grew up in a home where no two meals were ever the same—thanks to her mother’s creativity in the kitchen and her belief that with a little experimentation, anything can be made delicious. Today, BA carries that philosophy into her own cooking, blending the bounty of Southern California’s local, seasonal ingredients with global flavors inspired by her travels and the diverse places she’s lived. She sources as much as she can from her own garden, crafting meals that are fresh, vibrant, healthy, and full of flavor. Your experience will include a thoughtfully prepared spread of dips, salads, a main course, and dessert—each dish reflecting her love for wholesome, seasonal cooking.

Cooking experience (1 - 6 guests) Join BA in her welcoming Long Beach home for a hands-on cooking class focused on fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced as much as possible from local farms and gardens. Over the course of two hours, you’ll learn to prepare a delicious, well-rounded meal—starting with a flavorful dip, followed by a main course, salad, homemade bread, and a sweet dessert. After cooking, sit down with BA—and her sons, if they’re home—to enjoy the meal you’ve created together. It’s a warm, communal experience that celebrates good food and great company.

Market visit (1 - 6 guests) Join BA for a delightful walk or bike ride to the vibrant Long Beach Farmers Market. This is the perfect opportunity to browse, sample, and shop for fresh, local produce while soaking in the lively atmosphere. Wander through colorful stalls overflowing with seasonal fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more. Together, you'll select fresh ingredients that will shape the menu for your hands-on cooking class—no two experiences are exactly the same, as the dishes are inspired by what’s in season that day. After about an hour at the market, you’ll head to BA’s home to begin your personalized cooking and dining experience.

Please note the Farmers Market times are: Sat-Sun 9am-2pm, Tue 3pm-8pm, Wed-Thu 3pm-7pm, and Fri 10am-2pm.

Notes: BA can accommodate lactose free, gluten free, vegetarian and vegan requests. Please let her know in advance, while booking your cooking class in Long Beach online.
