Begin with an "aperitif of the day" and some nibbles before joining Karen in the kitchen for your cooking demonstration. You'll discuss techniques used to prepare your meal, and learn about Maryland seafood, poultry and produce. Help Karen make a starter and main course before sitting down to enjoy the East Coast meal you cooked together. This is a cooking demonstration and not a hands-on cooking class. Since Karen is a registered dietitian (and member of Les Dames d'Escoffier), feel free to ask her questions about nutrition or food. Your meal includes a paired beverage (wine, beer or other) and concludes with a dessert accompanied by limoncello, herbal tea or coffee. Enjoy your meal with Karen and Doug at their dining table. Leave with a full stomach, a new local friend, and memories that last a lifetime.
Join Karen in her open kitchen for a hands-on baking class with light lunch/supper. During the class you'll work with both rich and lean doughs. From a plain rich dough, you'll create stuffed sandwiches, perfect for hearty lunches or family suppers. From a sweetened and spiced rich dough, you'll create scrumptious cinnamon rolls. While you're waiting for the "rich" doughs to rise and bake, you'll make a quick lean dough, perfect for a baguette or a thin crust pizza! Make one or the other and enjoy a light meal of either baguette and butter with soup or a margarita pizza. At the end of the class, take home "ready to eat" or "ready to bake" stuffed sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. Tea, coffee or sparkling water is provided. Participants are welcome to bring sodas, juice or other beverages of their choice.
