Meet Maria

Maria has been in the hospitality business since 2011. Initially she ran a small café and from 2014 she managed a lunch restaurant. Then in 2019, she started to organize cooking classes and soon afterwards launched food tours. Food has always been an important part of Maria's life - from handwritten cookbooks passed down to her from her grandmother to taking part in cooking classes wherever she travels. She is excited to share her Polish recipes with travelers who are interested in learning more about the food, culture and culinary traditions.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Cooking experience (1 - 14 guests) This is a 2-hour hands-on group (non-private) cooking class conducted by an experienced chef in her cooking studio, close to the old town. Learn to make the most popular Polish dish, pierogi, and discover the Polish dumpling making traditions. Please NOTE that unlike most of our Traveling Spoon experiences, this dumplings cooking class is a non-private small group class and perfect introduction to Polish cooking. During this experience, you will prepare pierogi with meat and/or vegetarian fillings. Two people will be sharing a work station and together you will learn to knead the dough, then learn various techniques of folding the dumplings and discover hacks that make them really tasty. After your Polish dumpling class, you will enjoy a plate of dumplings that you prepared from scratch! Maria will also email you detailed recipes and pictures from the dumplings cooking class. End your experience with a tasting of 2 Polish liqueurs or tea, for those who don't drink alcohol. If you choose the optional alcohol add-on, Maria offers beer or wine.

Notes: Unlike our other experiences this is a non-private, small group class. Maria can accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets, please inform her in advance while booking the experience online. If someone wants a gluten free class, that can be accommodated as well, but with a different dish than dumplings. Also, on days when Maria is unavailable one of her team members will conduct the class, Maria will inform you in case she cannot host.

This class is designed primarily for adults, but children 8 years and above can participate, if accompanied by an adult. Please note children will be charged the full adult price for this experience. The website defaults to charging 50% for children aged 11 and under, but since our host prices children and adults the same, please add children as adults while booking this experience.

The duration of this experience is 2 hours, and these are the timings: 10am - 12pm (cooking + lunch), 12.30pm - 2:30pm (cooking + lunch) and 5:30pm - 7:30pm (cooking + dinner).
