A professional Tuscan tour guide, Martina is passionate about the wine, olive oil, meats and the food of her region. After researching the territory for several years, Martina has developed her own list for the best food and wine tastings in Florence. An avid traveler herself, Martina focuses her travel itineraries on food. Food has always had a very important role in her life and travels and she wants travelers who visit Tuscany to experience the same food experiences she would want to have if she were traveling herself. She considers food, culture; it is a way for her to share moments with her friends and family and is part of every momentous occasion - whether an announcement, work meeting, or celebration. Martina is keen to share this part of Italian culture with travelers.

Food tour (1 - 14 guests) Enjoy a private food tour in Florence with your fun and knowledgeable host Martina. Your first food stop will be at a "Forno", an Italian bakery where you will taste savory or sweet baked goods like biscotti and espresso. Next, explore with Martina the Sant’Ambrogio market, a local market frequently visited by Florentines for their everyday food shopping. Here you will not only discover a variety of typical Italian and Tuscan but also get an in-depth understanding of the way locals buy, eat and cook food. You will get to sample seasonal vegetables and cheese or prosciutto. Martina will introduce you to her favored vendors that will show you the best of their wares and provide advice on the right way to cook food, an interaction that is an important part of Italian food culture. Continue on your food tour with Martina and enter an old trattoria, famous for their traditional Tuscan soups. Martina knows the owner personally so you can expect a very charismatic Florentine man to share funny stories along with your soup and a glass of Chianti. You will also try tagliere, a platter of Tuscan favorites. You will end your tour with gelato! You will make 5 stops and try 5-6 different types of food on this Florence food tour. Your food tastings will be accompanied by up to 2 glasses of wine.
The food market in Sant’Ambrogio is open everyday from Monday to Saturday from early morning until 2pm. It is closed in the evenings and on Sundays. For travelers that book this food tour in the afternoons or on Sundays, Martina will have you try the same food and drinks but at different locations (not at the market). You might even get to try coccolo, small balls of dough fried in olive oil and stuffed with prosciutto ham and a creamy fresh cheese called stracchino.
