Rashida started her own company that arranges private, tailor-made tours around Mumbai city to showcase its rich culture and heritage. Her 15 years of experience make her a great companion for your exploration of Mumbai’s hidden jewels. Rashida rightly says that "Bombay is not about 'sights' in the traditional sense, it’s about experiences" and she will keep you engrossed with her wonderful travel stories and as you explore together. <br><br>Rashida lives with her husband in their elegant and sophisticated apartment, accented with teak wood furniture, potted plants, artwork and fresh flowers. Her children and grandchildren live overseas but come to visit every year.

In-home meal (1 - 8 guests) Bohri cuisine is served course by course rather than all at once. Unlike most Indian meals, you begin your meal with something sweet followed by something savory, all desserts are called mithaas and the savory dishes kharaas. You will share the meal with Rashida in her sprawling dining room decorated with furniture from another era. The meal might include dahi vada (deep fried potato served with thick yogurt), dahi bhindi (okra with yogurt), succulent mutton kebabs, salad, kheema khichdi (minced meat pulao), kheema na samosa (minced meat samosas), biryani and homemade ice-cream.
Cooking experience (1 - 8 guests) After a refreshing welcome drink, join Rashida in her kitchen for a cooking demonstration. She will demonstrate how to prepare 2-3 dishes, that you will eat along with other prepared dishes eaten with rice and Indian breads.
Market visit (1 - 8 guests) Rashida has been conducting personalized and exclusive tours of Mumbai for well-traveled clients for more than a decade. She shares a unique perspective of Mumbai through her city tours and expertly guides you through the city. You will be picked up from your hotel in South Mumbai in a chauffeur driven car and then begin exploring Mumbai's bustling markets giving you some of the truest glimpses of the city’s inner workings. Your tour can be completely customized based on your interests. You will visit Crawford Market, one of Mumbai’s main markets, built in the days of the British Raj, where fresh fruits, vegetables, poultry and spices are for sale.
Once your city tour is complete, you drive to Rashida’s beautiful old world apartment, located on an upmarket residential street in South Mumbai.
Notes: Transportation is only provided for the market tour, cooking class and meal option. Pick-up is from a hotel in the town-side hotels.
