Meet Angelina

An active food blogger and member of the Slow Food movement, Angelina is a fourth-generation professional cook and passionate about sharing traditional Greek recipes with travelers. Entirely self-taught, Angelina has over 25 years of experience cooking, writing for food magazines and newspapers, food-blogging and offering cooking classes. Angelina's interest in cooking was inspired by her grandmother and mother cooking in their Greek kitchen. She was brought up with a variety of food cooked fresh everyday and because she loves meeting people, she started to entertain guests. Angelina has studied sociology and communication, traveled around the world and it was during her time living in South Korea in the 90s that she first started offering Greek cooking classes. She hasn't stopped since and with her entertaining style makes each class a very pleasant experience.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

In-home meal (1 - 20 guests) Enjoy a traditional Greek meal at Angelina's dining table or outdoors on her balcony when the weather is good. You will start with ouzo, the traditional Greek aperitif and small plates of mezze (Greek appetizers) such as taramosalata, saganaki (a soft, fried cheese), tzatziki (yoghurt dip) or gigantes plaki (giant beans in a tomato sauce) or hand rolled dolmades and fresh bread followed by a Greek salad, a main dish such as a spanakopita (phyllo pastries) or whole fish or lamb and potatoes or garides saganaki (prawns in fresh tomato sauce with feta cheese) or chicken giouvetsi with orzo, or for vegetarians or vegans and upon request, revithada (a chickpea dish from the island of Sifnos, slow-cooked in a clay pot). For dessert, you will try an easy version of baklava with pistachios and walnuts.

Cooking experience (1 - 20 guests) Join Angelina in the modern kitchen of her beautiful home for an Athens cooking class and learn to cook traditional Greek dishes. Angelina likes to use seasonal and organic produce whenever possible. During your hands-on Greek cooking class in Athens learn to make a traditional Greek mezze dish such as melitzanosalata (eggplant dip) or taramosalata (appetizer made with fish roe). Then proceed to prepare a main such as spanakopita (savory spinach pie) or chicken with orzo in fresh tomato sauce or roast and garlicky leg of lamb with rosemary and lemon or shrimps saganaki in tomato and feta sauce. You can expect to cook for about an hour before you sit down to share the traditional Greek meal you helped prepare with Angelina. This is the perfect Athens culinary experience to immerse yourself in the rich flavors of Greece!

Notes: Angelina has little availability during the summer as she works in Mykonos from April to October. During the warmer months (June - October) your meals might start a bit later to avoid the heat of the day.

Angelina's Greek cooking class in Athens is perfect for large groups and team-building activities.
