This is a unique opportunity to have a local chef introduce you to traditional Puerto Rican cooking in the comfort of your own home or rental in San Juan or its surrounding areas. Your host, Chef Horta, can drive to your villa or vacation rental in San Juan, Dorado, Vega Baja, Canovanas or Guaynabo, to offer a private meal or cooking class and meal experience. <br><br>Chef Horta was born and raised in the west coast and then moved to San Juan once he started working. He has been in the restaurant industry for 18 years and for the last 6 years he has worked as a private chef and kitchen consultant. His focus is to provide you with a restaurant style experience in the comfort of your own home or vacation rental. Apart from cooking and serving you a delicious Puerto Rican meal, Chef Horta is excited to share his passion for creating art with local ingredients – making sure it doesn’t loose its natural color, flavor and then beautifully presenting and plating it. You can expect an interactive and fun experience where you enjoy Chef Horta’s unique creations, using fresh, seasonal and local produce.

In-home meal (1 - 10 guests) Enjoy an authentic Puerto Rican meal in your villa that Chef Horta caters. The food you will share is inspired by his roots, the knowledge he gained by working at various restaurant's and his grandmother’s treasured recipes. Chef Horta offers a different menu for every season, as he prefers using fresh, seasonal ingredients in his cooking. Some of the dishes you might try are alcapurrias (Puerto Rican fritters), mini mofongos (a Puerto Rican dish of mashed fried plantains with pork cracklings and garlic), arroz mamposteao (Puerto Rican rice and stewed beans), mashed roots and flan and bread pudding, for dessert. Chef Horta is happy to accommodate your dietary requests and personalize your menu, please feel free to share your preferences when booking the experience online.
Cooking experience (1 - 10 guests) Enjoy a private and authentic cooking class in the comfort of your own residence in San Juan! This is a perfect experience for anyone looking to connect with local culture over food. Chef Horta conducts a hands-on cooking class or a demonstration, please let him know your preference, that lasts about 2 hours. Learn to make a Puerto Rican meal that includes an appetizer, main dish and dessert. The aim of Chef Horta’s cooking class is to share his knowledge about local ingredients and its preparation. He is happy to accommodate special dietary needs such as gluten or lactose intolerance, vegetarian or vegan.
