Meet Magda

Magda is a third generation Podole Wielkie employee, passionate about sharing her love for okowita, a premium spirit made from a unique blend of potatoes grown in the Podole region of Poland. She has always felt like part of the distillery, as her grandfather, mother and father have all worked or still work here. At one of the last remaining okowita distilleries in the country, Magda shares the the process and traditions surrounding the making of this unique spirit. The Podole Wielkie distillery is 100km (1.5 hour) drive from Gdańsk. Podole Wielkie is a place where the story begins with grain and ends with bottles that make their way to store shelves and the finest restaurants in Poland. Magda loves her job because she gets to share her passion for the history and people of the distillery as well as the spirits with people from around the world. She is keen to revive the tradition of okowitas, a spirit enjoyed by Polish people even before vodka was invented.
