Miyuki is an English teacher and a home chef, who enjoys cooking for her friends and family. Apart from cooking she also enjoys growing roses in her garden, playing the piano and saxophone, golfing and traveling. As per Miyuki, the best part about traveling is getting to meet people from all over the world and learning about so many different cultures from them. Miyuki often submits her recipes to a local Japanese blog, so that others can also enjoy her quick and easy recipes. She is so excited to invite travelers into her home for a cultural exchange and to share with them a homecooked Japanese meal and a glimpse into her daily life. She is also looking forward to meeting people from all over the world and practice her English!
Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.
In-home meal (1 - 4 guests) Miyuki lives with her husband and children in Chiba, close to Disneyland Tokyo as well as Narita airport. She will introduce you to Japanese everyday meals, typical dishes that the locals eat - simple, easy recipes cooked using fresh, seasonal and local produce. This is the kind of food you will find in a Japanese home and not necessarily in a restaurant. Join Miyuki and her family to enjoy some everyday Japanese dishes such as teishoku, a Japanese style set menu of one side dish, rice balls, miso soup, and one main dish or chirashizushi, a sushi bowl made by topping sushi rice with a variety of seafood, vegetables and egg or karaage, Japanese fried chicken or Japanese curry and rice. You will end your meal with Japanese style dessert and green tea.
Cooking experience (1 - 4 guests) Join Miyuki in her home kitchen for your 45 min Japanese cooking class in Chiba. Either learn to cook teishoku (Japanese style set menu) or chirashizushi (Japanese style sushi bowl) or Japanese karaage (fried chicken) or Japanese curry and rice. Please note that these recipes are very easy, using simple ingredients as Miyuki would like to showcase everyday meals that the locals eat. After cooking, sit down together to share the meal you helped prepared.
If you would like to buy a few local ingredients to take back home, Miyuki is happy to accompany you to the nearby supermarket and help you purchase the best sauces, spices, seasoning's etc. Please let her know in advance if you'd like to visit the supermarket before or after your cooking class.
Notes: This Chiba cooking class is very suitable for families with children visiting Tokyo Disneyland. It is also close to Narita Airport, perfect for when you arrive into Tokyo or depart from the city. Miyuki will pick you up from Yachiyodai station on Keisei line.
