More about Debbie

Meet Debbie, a passionate educator and home cook who loves to prepare local Balinese cuisine as well as Manadonese dishes from her husband’s home island of Sulawesi. She delights in sharing Indonesia’s vast culinary heritage with her guests. Debbie says, "cooking for my family is a way for me to express my love."

Debbie’s family lives in a large compound which houses, among other things, a school dedicated to educating disadvantaged and disabled young people from the community. They offer a variety of year-long programs that teach the students job skills like cooking, graphic design, or hospitality skills. Debbie’s cooking students will help prepare the food that you will enjoy at her table.

"I had a wonderful dinner with Debbie and her friend Meyliana. We had a selection of different traditional Balinese and Indonesian dishes. The company was also excellent. Debbie and Meyliana run a small school and it was really interesting to listen to all their stories.

I would certainly recommend Travelling Spoon and Debbie Huang to all."
