Jitendra and his wife Lata live in the heart of Jodhpur's old city in a home that was built in the 1940s by Jitendra's grandfather. The family enjoys hosting guests and introducing people from all over the world to simple, authentic home-style cooking. <br> <br>"Our hearts are open and all are welcome!"
Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.
In-home meal (1 - 20 guests) After a warm welcome into this modest generational household, where Jitendra and Lata live along with their twin sons and their new wives, you will enjoy a simple, everyday vegetarian Rajasthani meal that Lata and her daughters-in-law have lovingly prepared. Lata took a cooking class while in university and has been feeding her family for decades since. The meal will include authentic dishes that a typical local family might enjoy on a day to day basis. Your home-style meal will be served on a stainless steel thali and might include dishes such as Lata's specialty, gatta ki sabji (a typical Rajasthani dish of grain dumplings in sauce), Rajasthani biryani, stir-fried and spiced vegetables like carrots, peas and leafy greens, all served with roti and puri (Indian breads). Your meal will conclude with a dessert such as a subtly sweet cashew nut halva. After your meal, Jitendra will invite you up to their rooftop for fantastic views of the Mehrangarh Fort and the surrounding old city, known for its pastel blue facades.
Notes: While Jitendra speaks good English, Lata only speaks in Hindi so he will act as her translator.

A Traveling Spoon ambassador visited this host. Here is their personal review.
Jitendra and Lata warmly welcomed us into their home and we were immediately at ease. After traveling through a number of regions in India over the last three months and sampling different regional cuisines, we found Lata’s dishes to be distinct, delicious, and a nice introduction to Rajasthani food. After the meal, Jitendra invited us up to their rooftop for fantastic views of the Mehrangarh Fort and the surrounding old city, dotted with beautiful pastel blue facades.
