Kim has been part of the travel industry for 25 years and enjoys meeting people, traveling to new places and discovering different cultures and cuisines. Kim learned to cook when she was 12 years old from her father. Her father had always wanted to be a chef, but went on to become a Captain in the merchant navy, so he passed on his interest and passion to Kim. She is a Goan native and lives with her family (husband and two children) in a small village in South Goa. Her family enjoys her cooking so much that they encouraged her to open her own fine foods and confectionery business five years ago, so that she could share her passion with others. Through her business Kim caters food for groups as small as 2 and as large as 200, customizing her meals to each customer's unique them.
Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.
In-home meal (1 - 10 guests) The experience takes place in Kim's home in Orlim Village, which is a lovely rural village in South Goa. On arrival you will be greeted with fresh coconut water straight from their tree in the garden or fresh lime juice. Kim will then share more about her passion for food and cooking. She enjoys experimenting with all kinds of cuisines and will explain to you how Goan food has a Hindu Saraswat and Catholic Portuguese influence.
Later, join Kim for a short walk around the village, where you will visit a 450 year-old church, a handloom house where they make kunbi saris and shawls and you may even spot a few migratory birds. Then return back to Kim’s house to share a Goan Portuguese meal. You’re free to explore the garden which has a large selection of spices and fruit trees - banana, pineapple, papaya and bimli or you can join Kim in the kitchen while she adds finishing touches to the meal or you can just relax and do some bird watching. Your meal will be a collection of Goan-Portuguese fusion cuisine prepared using ingredients locally sourced or mostly homegrown. The meal will be served at the dining table on the patio on the first floor (rather than inside the main house) and you might enjoy dishes like fish cutlets, Goan boiled rice, prawn curry made from coconut milk or pork vindaloo. End your meal with a sweet dessert like caramel custard, tender coconut panna cotta or bebinca.
Notes: For families with children there will be a special menu for the child (with discounted pricing):
(0-4 years): welcome drink, starters and french fries
(5-11 years): welcome drink, starters, french fries, sharing the main course with the parent and dessert

A Traveling Spoon ambassador visited this host. Here is their personal review.
From the start, fishing for crabs in the river, to the warm hospitality while enjoying the food this was a remarkable way of experiencing the local culture! Kim and her family, thoroughly enjoyed being able to share their experience of the local area and Kim's passion for food, which indeed comes across in her cooking! It was really easy to chat with Kim and she was very knowledgeable as well. The entire meal was full of flavor and delicious; my favorite was the freshly steamed crabs that we caught earlier in the day at the river.
