Host offerings
Sundarii hails from Tanjore in South India, and is currently settled in Bangalore with her family. Cooking has been a big part of Sundarii’s childhood and she learned to cook family recipes from her mother and grandmother. Sundarii’s biggest passion is cooking and now she is excited to share her knowledge and teach everyone about authentic Tamilian culinary traditions. As much as she loves cooking traditional dishes, she is also often seen experimenting in the kitchen and being creative with ingredients. Her recipes have featured in various publications, Sundarii even won multiple culinary contests and received accolades from star chefs in the country. Apart from cooking and feeding friends and family, she also enjoys meeting people, hearing their stories, and learning about their culture.

In-home meal (1 - 5 guests) You will be welcomed into Sundarii's home with a refreshing glass of paanagam (jaggery drink) or lemon juice. She will give you a glimpse into her everyday life and also share about Tamilian food, ingredients and culinary traditions. You will be joined by her husband and daughter, when they are home. Sundarii's daughter, Nivi, is a food and travel blogger, who has the best recommendations on the places to visit in her city! You join the family at the dining table to share a traditional, home-cooked Tamilian meal using Sundarii's grandmother’s recipes. A few dishes that you might try are rice, thanjavur kadamba sambar (lentil-based vegetable stew) or kola urundai (mutton kheema balls), urulai kizhangu kara kari (potato curry) or Chettinad chicken curry and aval payasam (rice pudding) or aval kesari (sweet dish made with flattened rice). Your meal will be served the traditional way, on banana leaves and if you'd prefer you can even sit down and eat with your hands - the most authentic way a meal is relished in India!
Cooking experience (1 - 5 guests) In your Bengaluru cooking class, join Sundarii in her home kitchen for a two hour hands-on class. Begin with a masterclass on spices used in South Indian cuisine. Then help Sundarii cook two dishes from scratch. You will learn to make either the appetizer or dessert and the main dish. Sundarii will share a lot tips and tricks, some secrets that have been passed down through generations and her treasured family recipes, while you cook together. After cooking, you will sit down and eat together the labor of your work.
