Meet Ines

Ines is a doctor who lived in Bogota for most of her life. As she nears retirement, Ines spends more time at her coffee farm that she inherited from her father, walking through the plantation and working the land. Ines is also very proud of the coffee beans they produce and enjoys sharing a freshly-brewed cup with her guests.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Food tour (2 - 8 guests) Enjoy a Colombian coffee plantation tour in the region of Quindio, where your host's 3 hectare farm is located, the quintessential Colombian coffee zone, and a UNESCO world heritage site. Your coffee tour of this lush green plantation amidst a walnut grove is guided by Ines who is a professional taster and barista. Your tour lasts about three hours and includes a farm tour, coffee tasting and concludes with a freshly brewed cup of single-origin coffee served with arepas, traditional Colombian cornmeal cakes. Begin your tour with a walk through the coffee farm and learn about the different varieties of coffee and the native trees that provide the necessary shade. Next you can observe coffee picking (if in harvest). You will then visit the utility and dryer to understand cherry pulping, washing and the post-harvest processes to get the most intense flavor out of every bean. Your coffee farm tour concludes with a tasting of typical Colombian "onces" that include arepa and fresh cheese, both made by hand with ingredients from the farm, and a good cup of traditional Colombian coffee from the farm's single origin beans.

Notes: The city of Armenia (and its airport) is about a 20-minute drive and Ines recommends driving your own car, as no public transportation is available near the farm area. If you need help with transportation, Ines will also be happy to share the contact details of a taxi driver she knows personally. Ines only speak Spanish, so there will be a translator to help during the tour. Ines is also flexible with timings, and can do the tour anytime from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
