Host offerings
Shuo grew up in Beijing, China and has been living in the US since he was 17. He first started cooking after moving to the states away from his family when he missed his favorite childhood dishes. He started experimenting cooking dumplings and other family favorites, and has since become an avid home cook, designing his own modern chef's kitchen and now experimenting with everything from homemade dumplings to Indian cuisine. When not experimenting in the kitchen, Shuo works for a hedge fund doing life science investment. He lives with his wife Sophie, a lawyer, and their son Milo who is an avid eater. Shuo's mother Pingxi, a master dumpling maker, also lives with the family and will help in the kitchen during your experience. In addition to fluent English, Shuo speaks Mandarin and his wife speaks French.

In-home meal (1 - 4 guests) Enjoy sipping on fresh orange juice, squeezed by Shuo himself, while the finishing touches are put on your meal in Shuo's modern family home in Belmont with impressive views of the Bay. Sit down together with Shuo in their open floor-plan dining room for lunch or dinner. Your menu will feature creative Chinese-inspired dishes like pan-fried crab and pork dumplings, dumpling soup in a slow-cooked tonkatsu pork broth, and a Peking-duck inspired bao. Finish your meal with fresh, seasonal fruit.
Cooking experience (1 - 4 guests) Experience a hands-on dumpling making lesson in Shuo's modern, custom-designed kitchen. Learn how to make the dough, assemble the filling (perhaps crab and pork or pork and chive), and then wrap your own dumplings before pan frying them. In addition to your dumplings, you'll also assemble creative Peking-duck style "baos", or taco-like rolls that feature roasted duck, herbs and hoisin sauce.
Notes: Please leave your shoes outside the door before entering Shuo's home.
