Koh is originally from the Nothanburi province in Thailand, which is about an hour by boat from Bangkok. After getting married, he moved to Bangkok with his wife and her family. Entering their neighborhood feels like stepping back in time, untouched by Bangkok’s rapid and relentless modernization. The soi (narrow lane) on which their home is located resembles old Thailand. Friendly neighbors in this tight-knit community greet one another and chat on their stoops, sharing a meal or cool drink together. You’ll see a typical grocery store that sells a wide variety of items, from staple ingredients to sweets.

Koh’s house was originally a small school. Around 60 years ago, Koh’s in-law’s purchased the building and converted it into their current home. In their garden, you’ll see a mango tree, a vegetable and herb garden and charming potted flowers. Koh first learned to cook from his mother and became very interested in cooking while in university. He now cooks for his own family and loves sharing his dishes with hungry guests at his table.
Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.
In-home meal (1 - 5 guests) Enjoy Thai dishes such as tom yum gung (sweet and sour soup with succulent prawns, flavored with galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and lemongrass), yam pla duk phuu (crispy catfish with green mango salad), or stir-fried tofu with mushrooms. You’ll wash down the meal with a fresh seasonal fruit juice like watermelon juice.
Cooking experience (1 - 5 guests) Enjoy a hands-on cooking lesson in Koh's traditional outdoor kitchen located at the front of his house. Should it rain, you will cook indoors. Koh will teach you to prepare authentic Thai dishes using a traditional stir-frying technique in a hot wok. You will also learn how to create the perfect balance between the sweet, sour, salty and hot tastes in tom yum soup.
Notes: Koh’s home only has a traditional Eastern-style (squat) toilet. The toilet is kept very clean but travelers should be aware that there is no Western toilet available at this home. On weekends, Koh is only available to host lunches.
