Aom’s love of cooking came alive when she had her daughter and became passionate about feeding her tasty food. She takes pride in preparing fresh, homemade food for her family – and of course for herself! Aom works part-time at a local radio station so she can spend more time in the kitchen and with her family. Aom loves to try new dishes and experiment with her own recipes. She often prepares large meals that she loves sharing with her neighbors. Aom hosts with her good friend and neighbor, K. Yaa.

Originally from Northeastern Thailand, K. Yaa grew up helping her parents in the kitchen. She later honed her skills while away at college where each group of students took turns cooking for their classmates and teachers. K. Yaa found that she enjoyed the whole process of meal preparation, from menu planning and preparing the ingredients to cooking the meal. She truly delighted in feeding her friends and teachers. She now works as a radio announcer and cooks during her spare time. Aom and K. Yaa enjoy hosting together to show travelers their love for homemade Thai food. They embody typical Thai generosity and hospitality.
Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.
In-home meal (1 - 4 guests) Together Aom and K. Yaa will serve you some of their favorite Thai dishes such as pad kaneeng moo grob (choy sum stir fried in oyster sauce with crispy pork), tom kha gai (coconut chicken soup with Thai herbs), and moo pad baiyiiraa (stir fried pork with tree basil, chili and garlic). Enjoy your meal over a glass of freshly squeezed juice, like one of their specialties, butterfly pea juice with honey and lime! You might end your meal with a dessert of sweet pumpkin in coconut milk.
Cooking experience (1 - 4 guests) Join K. Yaa and Aom in the kitchen where together you will prepare an authentic Thai meal. You will chop, pound and squeeze ingredients as they share their secrets to preparing a flavorful Thai meal. You will cook in their small kitchen which is located in the back of the house in an open air space, typical of small Thai homes.
Market visit (1 - 4 guests) Meet your hosts at the Mochit BTS station and then drive together to MuangThoong 1 Market. Aom and K. Yaa will show you the many variety of local fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices that are used in Thai cooking. After shopping for some ingredients for your meal, you will drive to Aom’s house to start cooking together.
Notes: Aom lives in a simple, sparsely decorated house that is typical of the Thai middle class. Aom believes in letting her daughter express her artistic creativity and allows her to draw on the walls of their home, so you can expect to see her drawings in the main room of the house. A visit to Aom’s home is a true glimpse into everyday Thai life and Aom and K. Yaa’s incredibly friendly personalities and generous spirits more than make up for what the home lacks in ambiance. They truly embody the Thai tradition of gracious hospitality and you are sure to depart from their home with two new friends in Bangkok.
