Meet Suf

Growing up in a close-knit family of cooks, Suf has helped his parents cook and sell food to the neighbors for years - especially desserts - in one of the oldest Muslim communities in Bangkok. The family’s love for cooking descended from Suf’s grandmother and his mother still sells food cooked at home using the same family recipes.

These days, Suf if a successful freelance designer but he loves to cook and entertain at home with his family in their charming Thai community of temples and mosques lining one of Bangkok’s few remaining canals.

In-home meal (1 - 4 guests) Some of Suf's favorite recipes to share with Traveling Spoon guests include tom yum kung, a classic spicy shrimp soup (galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, chilies, mushroom, coconut milk, and cilantro), stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts (sweet peppers, onion, garlic, and cilantro root), and deep fried spring rolls (glass noodles, carrot, mushroom, cabbage, sweet basil, and cucumber).

Cooking experience (1 - 4 guests) Arrive at Suf's home where you’ll be warmly welcomed by his family and offered a refreshing drink of Thai herbs. Once you’re settled in, grab a spoon and take part in the action as Suf and his mother treat you to a wonderful hands-on cooking experience.

He’ll show you how to select the best ingredients for the dishes you’ll soon be preparing. After browsing the aisles, Suf will lead you along a small, picturesque footpath to his home.
