Meet Fusina (Food Tour)

Fusina is a warm, open and welcoming Dutch host who loves to meet new people and learn about their culture. Fusina used to be the organizer of the Dutch cookbook competition and has authored many cookbooks about Dutch cuisine. A delightful storyteller, Fusina enjoys introducing travelers to Dutch food that is relished throughout the country and the memories that they bring back. Enjoy meeting a local and taking a walking food tour of central Amsterdam's Utrechtsestraat neighborhood Albert Cuyp market in the young and hip De Pijp area.

What to expect

Please note menu might vary. If there are particular dishes you are interested in trying, please include your request in the booking form.

Food tour (1 - 7 guests) During your central Amsterdam food tour with a fun local, discover sweet and savory Dutch street foods at five or six different food stops, including a stop at the local market. Your first stop will be at what Fusina considers the best family-run pastry shop in town where you will try Dutch appleschnitt. Next, visit Pieterma’s food truck and taste Dutch locals' most popular appetizer, bitterballen. Learn about the history of the Dutch colony of Suriname and it's influence on Dutch cuisine as you try a vegan finger food called Barra (typically served with a sambal dip). Next, you will walk through the Albert Cuyp market where she will introduce you to stroopwafels, freshly baked by a septuagenarian father and son team and fresh herring with pickles and onions (Dutch sashimi). At the organic market, Fusina will show you typical Dutch products and ingredients you will also get to try several Dutch cheeses. Discover Dutch favorite dishes at local food spots you may not otherwise know about during this unique, 2-hour Amsterdam culinary experience!

If you choose the optional add-on of alcohol at an additional cost, you will be treated to Dutch beer.
