Meet Hiroko

Hiroko is a warm and welcoming host who lives in a cozy apartment in Koganei, 20 km west of Shinjuku and an easy 8-minute walk from Musashi Koganei Station. With over 20 years of experience as a Japanese language teacher, Hiroko brings a deep passion for sharing Japanese culture with others. She learned to cook from her parents and combines her love for teaching and cooking by offering culinary classes to visitors eager to learn about authentic Japanese cuisine. Hiroko used to host lively gatherings every weekend — Fridays with her 16 family members and Saturdays with friends — where she shared food, stories, and joy. Her friendly demeanor and love for cooking ensure every guest feels right at home.

Cooking experience (1 - 3 guests) Meet Hiroko at Musashi-Koganei train station and walk to her small but cozy Koganei apartment, just outside central Tokyo, for a delightful 2-hour cooking class experience. Passionate about Japanese food and culture, Hiroko will guide you through making sushi rice, rolling maki with raw fish, vegetables, and fish roe, and preparing a classic Japanese vegetable dish like goma-ae.

Enjoy green tea or coffee during your session, or opt for wine or beer if you choose the alcohol option. You can also request to learn chirashi sushi (sushi bowls) or homestyle Japanese dishes like nikujaga or oyakodon. Let Hiroko know your preference when booking!
