Food tour (5 - 10 guests) This is a guided, small-group, walking tour of Melbourne's most popular and vibrant Greek precinct, Oakleigh. You will get an introduction to Greek food, its culture, sample some of the most popular dishes, and hear all about the art of Greek baking from locals who migrated from Greece to Australia. Get ready to bite into a delicious bougatsa, an iconic sweet of creamy custard between filo pastry. Crunch into the best koulouri outside of Athens. Savor the taste of Greek olives, cheese, yogurt and bread from the passionate traders in this bustling neighborhood. With each bite, you will learn about Greece’s enticing food culture, its history and its essence. Before you stop for lunch, you will also visit a cultural shop to learn about religion and local traditions. Your culinary experience ends with a delicious souvlaki at a traditional restaurant. Your meal will end with some dessert, such as loukoumades (Greek doughnuts) or Greek inspired ice-cream. You will leave having experienced many flavors, sights and smells and learning a great deal about Greek cuisine and culture.
